BCSC was established in 1962 by a group of horse owners interested in family oriented fellowship. Discussion to form a club was held "under a shade tree" on Berry Mountain at the Murry's Farm. The club was incorporated in 1965 and is the oldest in North Alabama. The club's first arena was developed on Hwy 29 and it was there that the first organized show took place.
Ralph Morton - a founding member, recalls that club members would trail ride on a saturday from Hwy 29 to Snead, have a square dance that night and on sunday afternoon host a show.
Times have changed but Blount County Saddle Club is still family oriented and still enjoys hosting shows. We have steadily grown in membership with interests in many different breeds and disciplines.
Our club hosts a "Fun Day" in the spring, camp-out trail ride in the fall and a Christmas Party in early December.
